I forgot a tube clamp that fixes to the tube notcher.

Channing Hammond, creator of Old Man Mountain came to the rescue. In his machine shop he had this head to a lathe, found some shim material, and now I’m set to miter the main triangle of the UCSB bike frame.

I’m inspired. I rode from Fairbanks, AK back to Iowa twice, using Old Man Mountain racks. What is crazy is we talked by phone 20 years ago.

Frame building requires a bit of precision. And, paradoxically, precision requires improvisation
