New Shirts

On Friday Luke, Ean, Mickey, Ben, David and I travel to the Philly Bike Expo. The largest cycling expo in North America. We will have steel and titanium frames, and I'll be doing a seminar on Saturday at 10:30.

Our new t-shirts arrived today and on Monday everyone in class will get one.

The drawing is something I'm using to introduce frame geometry to the Hand Drawing Bicycles for Designers and Engineers students, and I'll incorporate how I introduce frame design into the seminar at the Philly Expo.

The language and math of bicycle geometry can seem as dense as astrophysics to students when they first encounter words, concepts and the math. But too, both fields share fundamental principles rooted in physics and mathematics. Bicycle geometry encompasses the dimensions and angles that define a bicycle's design, influencing its handling, stability, and aerodynamics. Just, saying……. the study of how these geometric factors affect performance parallels the way astrophysicists analyze celestial bodies' trajectories and interactions within gravitational fields. Both disciplines rely on mathematical models to optimize their respective systems. Then there’s how the curvature of space-time near massive objects can be likened to the curves found in cycling tracks…. But I digress.
