Last Day at UCSB
Today is the last day of the frame building workshop at the University of California Santa Barbara.
We’ve managed to remain on schedule. The frame is all mitered. Today I’m going to work with each student to introduce the TIG welder, having them tack the frame.
The frame will come back to Iowa City where I’ll complete the welding, and then it goes back to UCSB.
Note. I did not use seat stay or chain stay jigs. This made it so I had to really delve into symmetry and phasing the stays, and this pushed me to attempt something pretty exotic with the seat stays. I told them one of the things I say a lot: life is a daring adventure so embrace improvisation. Translated: we’re going to do some crazy shit with the seat stays, because we should and can.
