Into The Badlands

The next ride is set for July 6. The Little Missouri National Grassland, riding the Maah Daah Hey Trail. 6 Days, 297 miles, 28,000’ climb.

Located in western North Dakota, the Little Missouri National Grassland is the largest grassland in the country. Within its borders is Theodore Roosevelt National Park. A predominant feature of the grassland is colorful and beautiful badlands, a rugged terrain extensively eroded by wind and water. It’s a mixed-grass prairie with both long and short grass.

The Maah Daah Hey Trail, running North/South through the Little Missouri National Grassland , is the longest single-track trail in the country.

I've still not settled on which bike to ride.

I'm not going to underestimate the heat. The North Dakota Badlands, due to their distinct geological features and interaction with regional wind patterns, experience a specific microclimate characterized by temperature extremes. In the summer this can mean it's hot as shit. Both times I was there the temp was over 100 degrees. Sun stroke and heat stroke are legitimate issues. I'll wear a long sleeved sun shirt.

I have never ridden this bike in an event or bikepacking. But it’s going to be deployed for the Little Missouri National Grassland.

I’ve been able to ride a lot more, and I love that feeling of being fit and ready.
